Dr. Michael Duffey
Dr. Michael Duffey is a native of Fredericton. He began his post-secondary career at the University of New Brunswick before completing his Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo. Upon graduation, he moved to Nova Scotia and joined a busy practice in the Annapolis Valley. He also provided vision care at the medical centre at CFB Greenwood for members of the Canadian Forces.
In his early professional career, Dr. Duffey served as Chairman of the Board of Examiners in Optometry for Nova Scotia, followed by a term as Chair of the Discipline Committee. He served on the National Council of the Canadian Association of Optometists (CAO) in Ottawa for six years, rising to the Executive Committee before several terms on the Board and, eventually, Chair of the Canadian Optometric Education Trust Fund (COETF).
Dr. Duffey is currently a member of both the CAO and Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists (NSAO).
He has had a lifelong passion for aviation and began his flight training while still in high school. He eventually completed his Commercial Pilots' License, as well as Instrument and Multi-Engine Certifications.
Dr. Duffey is delighted to have been invited to join West Halifax Optometry and looks forward to providing exceptional patient care with Dr. Buchanan-Dorrance and his team.
Dr. Duffey is married and lives in St. Margaret's Bay. The couple share passions for travel, cooking, and are on the hunt for their first sailboat.
